Before founding JD Wills and Estates, Richard Jordan and Angela Dryden had already built a strong foundation — as friends, colleagues and trusted sounding boards for each other since 2015.
In 2021, they joined forces professionally, setting up a mediation business focused on helping people navigate difficult times with dignity and clarity.
With over 30 years of combined experience in law, business development and client care, they saw first-hand how many families were left exposed because of poor planning or generic advice. Too often, people only reached out when it was already too late.
So JD Wills and Estates was created - to offer something better.
Led by Richard, a barrister with a passion for accessible legal expertise, and Angela, who brings a warm, practical approach to every client relationship, the firm was built on a shared belief. That everyone deserves expert advice. That home visits still matter. And that legal planning should be about real lives, not just paperwork.
Today, JD Wills and Estates supports individuals, couples and families across Leicestershire and beyond. We specialise in wills, estate planning, probate and mediation - always with a focus on compassion, clarity and care.

Meet Richard Jordan

Richard isn’t your typical barrister. He’s spent over 20 years in the legal game, handling everything from family disputes to the criminal court.
He’s the calm in the chaos, the guy families trust when it all feels like too much. He doesn’t just draft wills. He prevents wars.
He sees problems before they happen, and puts rock-solid plans in place to keep your family out of courtrooms and off each other’s throats.
And when things do go sideways, Richard’s courtroom and mediator mindset mean he’s perfectly placed to sort it with clarity, compassion, and a firm grip on what matters.

Outside of law, Richard’s a walking encyclopaedia. Obsessed with old cars and vintage trucks, and frighteningly knowledgeable about Napoleon and the two World Wars. Challenge him to a history quiz and you’ll lose. Guaranteed.
He was voted the 'Strongest Man' in Leicester Prison in 1995 (he was a teacher - not an inmate)!
He's been married to Fiona for 30 years and they have 2 beautiful grown up daughters - Alex and Olivia

Angela’s path to estate planning wasn’t straight out of a law textbook. With nearly 30 years in FMCG sales, she’s worked with retailers, manufacturers, and distributors, always obsessed with one thing: people.
She’s seen how easily older generations get left behind in a world obsessed with apps and automation - and she’s not having it.
Angela brings that strong sense of inclusion and sharp customer service mindset to every client she works with. Her mission? To make legal planning human, personal, and always accessible.
She’s practical, straight-talking, and brilliantly warm, the kind of person who makes clients feel instantly at ease.
She is someone who truly cares about your family’s future goals.
Outside the office, Angela has travelled extensively. She became a scuba diving instructor in Australia, where her daughter was born, and has trekked through the Himalayas. She was once even charged by rhinos in the jungles of Nepal.
Angela is also a qualified life coach and a strong advocate for personal development. She’s a trained mediator and has recently added mortgage advice to her list of qualifications.
Her partner is Martin and she’s recently become a proud grandma.
